The Unis Grady is a mid-slim chino with side tabs on the waistband and flaps on the back pockets. It’s nothing massive, just a nice couple of details that set them off a bit from the standard offerings you probably already have in your arsenal. Of course, the fantastic Rust color accomplishes that pretty well on its own, but no harm in doubling up in this case.

The styling on the Unis site actually turned me off of this one at first, but the folks at Frances May saved it by sizing down instead of up and rolling the cuffs. It looks like it might be a little rough on the waist, but if you’re willing to rock it out, I’d support the decision.

OK, so it’s not like we’re going through the 8,000 varieties of color options that some folks offer, but these four from Swedish label Velour are all actually wearable. So that’s a bonus. And their Adan cut is a very nice one. It’s slim, but not tight, and it can be worn a size up for a more relaxed vibe (check the styling on the khaki-colored one here for some inspiration on that front).

Available at Opening Ceremony for $155. But hurry, they’re going fast!

If you’re looking for a couple more color options and don’t mind a minor uptick in price (blame currency conversion) hit up Velour’s online shop to get ‘em for $167.

They may be sold out at Blackbird, but these Gant Rugger Oxford Chinos have seared themselves into my mind over the last couple of days. The execution is slim, simple, and done up in a gray oxford cloth that’s dark enough to suit my denim-leaning tastes while staying light enough to refrain from sucking up sunlight like crazy. In other words: well suited to my own inclinations, but also well suited to the summer months. That’s me sold.

Since the Gant Rugger flagship just opened this past week on Bleecker Street, I’m crossing my fingers and heading over there this afternoon to try to snag a pair for myself. At the very least, I can find out what size I take and pray that Zappos has that size in stock.

More shots for you:

At $98, they’re not super cheap, but they’re certainly not going to break the bank. Also available in Sea Blue option that’s a bit too light for me, but a very nice pant nonetheless.

My hunt for slim chinos continues! The latest offering to catch my eye?  Toddland‘s Greatest Pants in the Universe in dark gray (which is really more of a medium gray if you ask me). They’re also available in a wide range of additional colors, including a very nice burgundy option.

They’re lightweight, and trim without pushing into “skinny” territory. These are the kind of fit that can work with a narrower overall silhouette, but aren’t so tight that you can’t roll ‘em on hotter summer days.

The 65/35 poly/cotton blend has just enough sheen to lend a little bit of refinement without looking stuffy. Not that a chino this slim really could look stuffy, but nonetheless…

If the pant’s moniker didn’t alert you already, Toddland has a thing for tongue in cheek whimsy. It manifests itself here in the form of blue and yellow pocket bags on the back welt pockets and an enormous interior “Thank You” label. A tonal enamel snap closure at the front waistband, zip fly,  and a bike snap at the back pocket (to keep your wallet safe) complete the package.

Some more pictures for your consumption:

And just because I really like Toddland’s decision to take their in-house photos against a hyper-verdant grassy background, a few more:

The bike snap. A nice addition

The blue and yellow pocket bags

At $58, you really can’t go wrong. They’re available directly from Toddland’s online shop, or you can snag a pair at Urban Outfitters.

So I’m still on the slim khaki kick, and still loving Need Supply‘s offerings.

Today, it’s the Cheap Monday Slim Chino in grey that’s got my attention.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll reiterate: I’m just warming to the whole khaki/chino thing. For the lower half, it’s previously been all about the denim for me. But as it gets further into spring, and I think back to the oppressive heat of the last couple of summers in NY, I have begun to realize I need another option. It’s got to be slim, lightweight, and a relatively light color, though. That’s just how I roll.

This pair fits the bill quite well. They’re made of lightweight cotton. The grey isn’t so saturated that it’ll be a sun magnet. And they’re very trim through the leg — and especially from the knee down — so the hem won’t be sloshing all around my ankle (true to form for a brand built on their ultra-skinny jean offerings).

Thankfully, despite the dramatically slimmed down silhouette for a chino, Cheap Monday has kept the traditional slash pockets at the side and button welt pockets at the back. Very work friendly! (That’s also key for me.)

Some more shots:

At $65, why the hell not go for it? Chick over to Need Supply if you’re a 30×34 (the only size left, so hurry!).

I never thought I’d say it, but I need some khakis. And I think the Life After Denim Lean Fit Chino might be the right choice.

I know, I know. This, after the denim freakout yesterday?  Well…yes. It’s gonna get warmer, and though I love me my jeans, I’ll be needing something a bit lighter (color and weight) for the summer months. And I don’t currently own a single pair of khakis, because I tend to hate the fit (overly loose, poofing out in all the wrong places).

So I was very excited to come across these guys on Need Supply. They’re a slim cut, the slash pockets have the right kind of angle to prevent them from puffing out too much, and they’re khakis. Sold.

A few more looks:

The Front

The Side

And The Back

Oh yeah, they’re also very reasonably priced at $78. So get on it! Just be sure to leave a pair for me…
